Flash isn’t “bad”, but its use on web pages slows down your experience. 95% of the time, you don’t need to preload Flash content. This allows you to choose, “Yes, I want to see this Flash content”.
2. Label this filter “Marketing” or “Advertising” or “Not Important Enough To Distract Me”
3. Auto archive it and mark as read
4. Go an entire day not being sidetracked by the (1) in your inbox that is just some bullshit.
5. Check the “Not Important Enough To Distract Me” label whenever you feel like it OR when you wanna spend some dough on J Crew and need a discount code.
You might have to filter some one-off marketing emails that are tricky and won’t use the word “unsubscribe” but that’s easily done from the email view in Gmail (“Filter messages like these”).
This is of course for stuff you don’t want to unsubscribe from because you might actually care about the product, service, or organization. If you don’t, JUST UNSUBSCRIBE!
